At present, due to problems in a project to develop ultra modern A-380 airplanes Airbus, the European aerospace giant, could decide to purchase less Russian titanium which is manufactured by VSMPO-Avisma, the world’s leading titanium corporation, VSMPO-Avisma CEO Vladislav Tetyukhin announced. At the same time, according to him, his company could easily find other buyers, since the titanium and alloy market is presently experiencing a certain shortage.

In 2007 VSMPO-Avisma plans to deliver around 3,000 t of titanium to Airbus and in the next few years this amount could rise to 3,500-3,900 t. The price of the contract on titanium supplies signed between the two corporations until 2011 could be at least $1 bn.
