Mechel-Coke is implementing investment program

Pavel Shtark, the Managing Director of Mechel-Coke (plant, located in Chelyabinsk, which produces coke-chemical products, with the production capacity 2.7 million tons) informed Metal Supply and Sales Journal about the implementation of investment program.

The investment program involves relaying the basic units of coke batteries. Currently the fourth battery is being shifted at the Chelyabinsk facilities. In 2006 the battery #7 was commissioned, the battery #4 in 2009 and in March 2011 the coke battery #6 were commissioned after the reconstruction. Today, the reconstructed coke battery #5 is being warmed up. Its commissioning is planned for January 2012. Launch of all of these objects is going to produce positive impact on the environment. In fact, modern coke batteries are thermal units, which include all the environmental elements that are managed by controllers; therefore, the human factor has no effect. It is planned to set up the main unit of coke battery #3, until the end of 2014.

And yet another object directly related to the environment improvement will be launched in the Q1 2012: a mixing complex, which is going to utilize the slag and transform it into cement.

Furthermore, not so long ago the launch of the long-term construction of equipment for purifying phenolic acids wastewater coke-chemical production took place on Mechel-Coke plant.
