Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant announces H1 2012 production results

Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, Russia’s largest producer of zinc and zinc alloys, is pleased to announce its production results for the six months ended June 30, 2012. Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant (CZP) produced 81,247 tonnes of salable SHG zinc and zinc basedalloys in H1 2012, a decrease of 1% as compared to H1 2011 (82,046 tonnes). 65.1% of metal was supplied to the domestic market. CZP’s affiliated company, Nova Zinc LLC, operator of Akzhal zinc and lead ore mine in Kazakhstan, produced 16,676 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate in H1 2012, 4.4% less than in H1 2011 (17,443 tonnes). Lead in lead concentrate production decreased by 32.1% to 1,995 tonnes (vs. 2,939 tonnes in H1 2011). CZP’s subsidiary, The Brock Metal Company Limited (the leading UK supplier of zinc die-casting alloys) sold 14,549 tonnes of zinc alloys in H1 2012, an increase of 8.2% as compared to H1 2011 (13,449 tonnes).
