KrAZ to produce large diameter ingots

The Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter (KrAZ, part of Rusal) is to implement the construction of a new foundry complex for the production of cylinder ingots of 230 mm to 457 mm diameter. The capacity of the new production complex will comprise 120,000 tonnes per year. As of today, the foundry equipment installation is near completion. New beryllium project are planned in Russia

Expert Council of the Industry’s Development Fund approved 12 preferential loans amounting up to 2.93 bullion rubles (approximately $48.305 million). According to one of them, company Rare Metals of the Siberia plans to organize a plant to process beryllium ores into pure beryllium and its compounds. Rusal completed the sale of Alpart alumina refinery in Jamaica

Rusal has announced that it has completed the sale of a 100% stake in Alumina Partners of Jamaica (Alpart) to Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group (Jisco) for a $299 mln cash consideration. The transaction was successfully completed following the fulfilment of all required conditions in accordance with the previously signed interest purchase agreement. KUMW continues to build new rolling complex

Kamensk-Uralsk Metallurgical Works (KUMW) builds the second stage of tne new rolling complex with capacity of 160,000 tonnes of aluminium plates, shtrips and sheets pert year. SAZ launches the first RA-550 cell

Rusal announced the launch of the first RA-550 pot of new generation running at over 550 kA at the Sayanogorsk aluminium smelter (SAZ) as part of a $28 mln project. The key benefit of the new pots is their energy efficiency. A RA-550 cell consumes around 12 kW*h/kg of aluminium, which is 10-15% less than previous generations. Highland Gold has signed two agreements with state agencies on financing and infrastructure to aid in the development of Kekura, which is located the Far Eastern province of Chukotka. China National Gold Group buys deposit in Russia

Indiand-based company Sun Gold is selling China National Gold Group 70% share in the project of the exploration of the Kluchevskoe gold deposit in Zabakalskiy region. Kluchevskoe deposit resources are 74.4 tonnes of gold. Earlier Sun Gold planned to run a processing plant on the Klyuchevskoi depoit in 2006, as well as to start the heap leaching.
