Severstal plans to invest nearly 58 billion rubles in 2025 into projects aimed at achieving its climate goals and decarbonization. “Environmental protection initiatives cost 10.3 billion rubles in 2024. To meet its 2030 climate targets, Severstal intends to allocate 57.9 billion rubles in 2025, primarily for building the iron ore pellet production complex,” the company stated.
The report highlights that by the end of 2024, Severstal managed to reduce the discharge of pollutants into water bodies, meet targets under the federal *Clean Air* project, and cut total pollutant emissions at CherMK by 30.7% compared to the baseline year of 2017. Investments in these initiatives totaled 47.5 billion rubles between 2018 and 2024.
In 2024, the company allocated 7.5 billion rubles to support regional development, federal and local projects in education, culture, sports, and assistance for small and Indigenous communities. Social investments are set to increase by 25% in 2025, reaching 9.4 billion rubles.
