Reconstruction of 250 Merchant Mill has Completed at Nizhnie Sergy Metalware and Metallurgical Plant
The main reconstruction works of 250 merchant mill have completed at Nizhnie Sergy Metalware and Metallurgical Plant, reported Maxi-Group press center. Thus, due to the new double-stranded mill output of rebar steels will reach 1 mln tons in 2007.
The reconstruction of the rolling facilities at Nizhnie Sergy Metalware and Metallurgical Plant began in 2000. In 2004 150 rolling mill was set up to produce 320 thou. tons of rods and rebar steels per year. The design capacity already exceeded: in 2006 more than 370 thou. tons of rolled products were produced. The left stand of the 250 mill was put in operation without halting the production process in 2006.
In January 2007 the left strand reached the design capacity - its capacity increased up to 500 thou. tons. Mastering of the slitting process enabled to roll some sizes of rebar steels on 2 or 4 strands. In March 250 mill was stopped for 20 days. All the necessary work on starting of the right strand was underway 24 hours a day involving more than 800 specialists of 20 contractor companies. Works on putting in operation began on March 30, and by April 15 output of rebar steels reached 1.6 thou tons per day. Before the end of April the production capacity of the mill will reach 80% of the design capacity.
Besides, an International Training Center for Foreign Specialists in Metallurgy opened at Nizhnie Sergy Metalware and Metallurgical Plant. Vai-Fuchs, Germany, the world leading producer of metallurgical equipment initiated it. Specialists from China have already finished the first course of study. For two weeks they were studying equipment of the electric steel melting plant, the technology and peculiarities of repair. The students took practice with specialists of the plant.
