MMK Increased Blast Furnace Capacity

A general overhaul of blast furnace #9 finished at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. Setting up of a bellless charger by Paul Wurth (Luxemburg) was part of the project. Due to the general overhaul steel quality will improve and output will increase, whereas the setting up of the new charger will considerably decrease coke consumption. According to the plan the blast furnace will melt about 5 thou tons of pig iron a day.

The blast furnace #9 is the third blast furnace in the blast furnace plant о to have the new charger. The next one will be blast furnace #10, the general overhaul of which will be held in the II quarter of 2008.
