UC RUSAL announces new appointments
Oleg Burkatsky, formerly the Managing Director of Krasknoyarsk Aluminium Smelter, has been appointed Managing Director of the Bogoslovsk Aluminium Smelter. He is replaced at the Krasknoyarsk plant by Evgeny Zhukov, who was formerly the Managing Director of the Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter. Evgeny Nikitin, previously Director of Reduction Area at the Sayanogorsk plant, has been made its Managing Director.
These appointments are part of management rotation program at UC RUSAL’s enterprises. They are targeted at introducing best practices to increase labour efficiency, launch new production systems, as well advancing management effectiveness and industrial output.
Biographical information
Oleg Burkatsky has been Managing Director of the Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter since May 2006. From November 2005 he was a Deputy Director of RUSAL’s Environment and Safety Department which followed his appointment in June 2002 as General Director of the Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter. Between April 2001 and June 2002 he worked as Managing Director of the Novokuznetsk Smelter. In 2001 he was appointed the Chief of Aluminium Department and Acting Director of Technical Department at RUSAL. Since graduating in 1987 from the metals and mining faculty of the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals he held numerous positions from a reduction area worker to Director of Reduction and Chief Engineer at the Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter.
Evgeny Zhukov has been Managing Director Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter since November 2005. From March to November 2005 he was in charge of Reduction Area of the smelter. Between 2001 and 2005 he was first Deputy Director of Production and the Chief of Reduction Area at this plant at the Novokuznetsk Aluminium Smelter. Evgeny Zhukov developed his career in aluminium industry since 1993 at the Krasnoyarsk Smelter and worked in a number of roles from an anode engineer on the aluminium production line to senior workshop foreman. In 1992 he graduated from the Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical Institute majoring in chemistry and biology. In 2001 he was awarded a degree in metals, mining and engineering from Krasnoyarsk Academy of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold.

Evgeny Nikitin has been the Director of Reduction Area at Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter since February 2006. In 2004 he was appointed head of the “Reduction Technology” project at Engineering and Technology Centre of the Khakas Aluminium Smelter during its construction. His career in the aluminium industry started in 1993 at the Sayanogorsk Smelter where he went from being an engineer to the position of Reduction Area Chief. In 1989 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Civil Aviation with a degree in electrical engineering. He was later trained on higher aluminium and international aluminium courses.
