ChTPZ Proceeds with Equipment Installation in The Building Electric Welding Pipe Mill in November

Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant has started the delivery of production machinery for the new big diameter pipe mill, construction of which began in 2008. Among the first to be delivered were large-size parts for pipe-forming line produced by German company SMS-MEER – the main equipment supplier for the new mill. It is planned to proceed with line installation in early November after completion of foundations laying for the new press.
The new mill will comprise two production lines: for 18-metre long pipes with wall thickness up to 38 mm and for 12-m long pipes with wall thickness up to 48 mm. Among the new mill facilities there are forming presses station, welding station, finishing station, inner and outer corrosion-resistant coating station.
The management had made a decision of the new mill construction to provide a competitive edge. Total investments in the project equal 600 mln dollars. Single seam pipes 508-1420 mm in diameter, wall thickness up to 48 mm, up to X100 grade, with inner and outer coating will be manufactured in the new mill meeting all requirements of pipeline transportation market. Annual capacity of the new mill will total 600 thousand tons of pipes.
It is planned to put the mill into operation at the end of 2009.
