OMZ Special Steels Certified by Bureau Veritas
OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) announced that its OMZ Special Steels company has successfully passed a certification of its steel forgings designed for shipbuilding and marine engineering. The certification procedure was conducted by the Bureau Veritas (BV), a French classification organization. The certificate allows OMZ Special Steels to produce forgings from carbon, carbon-manganese and alloy steels used in the shipbuilding industry in accordance with BV Rules. The certificate is valid until 11 August, 2013.
Bureau Veritas, founded in 1828, is a well-known and highly respected classification organization. BV provides high quality standards for the shipbuilding industry, develops rules of shipbuilding and technical durability norms in accordance with which ships are being classified.
The certificate received by OMZ Special Steels confirms the high quality of OMZ Special Steels products developed for the shipbuilding industry. They have allowed the company to work successfully with either domestic or international shipbuilding companies.
OMZ Special Steels' products for the shipbuilding industry have also been certified by a number of other classification societies which are the International Association of Classification Societies' (IACS) members including Russian Maritime Navigation Register (RMNR, Russia), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR, UK), Germanischer Lloyd (GL, Germany), Det Norske Veritas (DNV, Norway), Bureau Veritas (BV, France), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS, USA), Registro Italiano Navale (RINA, Italy), and Russian River Register (RRR).
