OMZ Special Steels Certified by Germanischer Lloyd

MOSCOW - OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), a leading heavy machinery company with assets located in Russia and the Czech Republic, announced that its OMZ Special Steels company has successfully passed a certification of its steel forgings designed for shipbuilding. The certification procedure was conducted by Germanischer Lloyd (GL). The certificate allows OMZ Special Steels to produce forgings from Ck 50 mod (SEW 550, DIN EN 10083-1) steel used in the shipbuilding industry in accordance with GL Rules. The certificate is valid until 7 September, 2012.

Germanischer Lloyd, founded in 1867 in Germany, is a well-known and highly respected classification organization. GL provides high quality standards for the shipbuilding industry, develops rules of shipbuilding and technical durability norms.

The certificate received by OMZ Special Steels confirms the high quality of OMZ Special Steels products developed for the shipbuilding industry, contributes to the company's competitiveness and strengthens OMZ's positions in domestic and international markets.

OMZ Special Steels' products for the shipbuilding industry have also been certified by a number of other classification societies which are the International Association of Classification Societies' (IACS) members including Russian Maritime Navigation Register (RMNR, Russia), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR, UK), Det Norske Veritas (DNV, Norway), Bureau Veritas (BV, France), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS, USA), Registro Italiano Navale (RINA, Italy), and Russian River Register (RRR).
