OMZ’s Izhorskiye Zavody completes welding of reactor vessel and pressure compensator for Novovoronezh NPP-2
zhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, completed one of the most important stages in the manufacture of equipment for Novovoronezh nuclear power plant NPP-2 - welding of the reactor vessel and pressure compensator.
Quality control of welded joints showed that all welding work was carried out in full compliance with the rules and regulations of manufacturing equipment for nuclear power plants.
Welding is a key stage in the processing chain of manufacturing equipment for the first loop of reactor plant. Completion of this phase of work on time and with high quality will ensure timely delivery of equipment to the site Novovoronezh NPP-2, which is under construction.
Reactor vessel and pressure compensator for this station are the first of the newly manufactured equipment delivered to Russia's nuclear power plants after the “nuclear pause” of 1990s. Reactor system for Novovoronezh NPP-2 is the parent installation of NPP-2006 project and the first from 26 power plants, construction of which is stipulated by the Federal target program of development of nuclear energy. The VVER-1200 reactor with power of 1200 MW is used in NPP-2006 project. The project also includes the number of design improvements of equipment that enhance safety and improve the technical and economic stats of the station, which is the basis to extend the life of major equipment to 60 years.
