Svyatogor confirmed the compliance of its Quality Management System with the international standards
JSC “Svyatogor” (metallurgical complex of UMMC) has successfully passed surveillance audit of Industrial and Occupational Safety Management System for its compliance with the requirements of International Standard OHSAS 18001:2007 and audit of Ecological Management System for its compliance with the requirements of International Standard ISO 14001:2004.
The company “Russian Register” (Saint Petersburg) made a positive statement subsequent to the results of examination. During this surveillance audit, which was conducted under the random selection, the experts have examined 15 departments and workshops of “Svyatogor”.
In particular, the auditors have stated contribution of the enterprise into labour conditions improvement. ‘In spite of the crisis obstacles, departments of “Svyatogor” extensively introduce some technical protection measures. Dwelling on the approved programme, this work will be in progress in the next year’ – noted senior expert of “Russian Register” Alexander Yukhov.
Also auditors have estimated the Ecological Management System of “Svyatogor”. ‘First of all we were astonished with the corporate competition “Ecology and we”’ – the leader of the audit team Svetlana Baranova said. – This is a bright example of the situation, when staff involvement brings considerable results, in other words, ecology “touches” every employee. Moreover, due to media coverage of the event it has moved out the limits of one enterprise. Therefore, I hope that such practice will bring positive effect on Krasnouralsk in general’.
Looking back, for the first time JSC “Svyatogor” has certified its Ecological Management System of the standard ISO 14001:2004 in 2008 and its Industrial and Occupational Safety Management System of the standard OHSAS 18001:2007 in 2009.
