En+ Downstream expands output of aluminium semi-products
En+ Downstream (includes Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant KraMZ, Dmitrov Can Tape Test Plant Dozakl and Mosmek - manufacturers of aluminium products for the aviation, spacecraft building, defense, construction and other industries) announces results for the year ended 31 December 2010.

The aggregate output of En+ Downstream totaled 143.8 thd tons of aluminium products, a 21% increase compared to 2009. KraMZ's output rose by over 18% (from 111 thd to 129 thd tons); Dozakl increased its output by about 10% (from 7.3 to 8.1 thd tons). The key driver of the aggregate output growth was the inclusion of Mosmek into En+ Downstream last year. Mosmek's contribution into the aggregate output totaled 6.8 thd tons in 2010.

The KraMZ's main product types were cast cylindrical billets, wire rod and extruded bars, tubes and profiles. The share of the products exported by KraMZ amounted to 32% in 2010, which is almost 25% below the 2009 level; meanwhile the geographic spread of exports grew wider, with the key purchasers located in Germany, Italy, the UK, Israel, South Korea, Turkey, Check land, Spain, Australia and Thailand.

Dozakl produced mainly dyed aluminium tape for ceiling profiles, mirror tape for lighting fixtures and interior design components, tape for composite panels used in modern construction, and Lamister composite material for the food industry.

Mosmek's main product types were aluminium profiles and building systems.

The revenue of En+ Downstream totaled RUR12.59 bln in 2010, a 60% increase compared to 2009. This major revenue growth is due to an overall increase in production, a larger share of high-added value products in the output, and a growth of the finished product prices that followed the growth of primary aluminium prices.

En+ Downstream invested more than RUR240 mln in 2010. The key projects implemented: a 33 MN press installed at KraMZ and a line to produce module facades launched at Mosmek. KraMZ also started to develop a feasibility study to build the Russia's largest rolling mill.

En+ Downstream Head Natalia Vasilenko commented: «The global demand for aluminium products is growing, the key task for En+ Downstream will be broadening the range of products in the next few years in order to meet this growing demand, which comes, particularly, from the Russian defense and aircraft building industries. We are pretty sure that the En+ Downstream's investment programs, including the project to build the Russia's largest rolling mill at KraMZ, will enable us to do so».
