Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev has instructed the formation of an expert group to determine the economy’s long-term demand for rare and rare-earth metals and to outline a list of products that could be produced in Siberia.

The development project for the Chuktukon rare-earth metals deposit in the Krasnoyarsk Region is set to drive the growth of new industries in the region. This was stated in a press release from the Governor’s office following a meeting chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, dedicated to the development of the Siberian Federal District.

Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister gave an assignment to form an expert group to assess the economy’s long-term needs for rare and rare-earth metals and to develop a list of products that could be produced in Siberia.

“The project of the Chuktukonskoye rare-earth metals deposit in the Kezhemsky District should serve as the driver for new industries in the region. The deposit holds 2.9 million tons of rare-earth metal oxides, accounting for 10% of all explored reserves in Russia,” stated the Governor’s press service.
