Presentation of Samarkand Metallurgiya Zavodi in Moscow

Over 200 delegates gathered today in Moscow for the 20th International Conference "Galvanized and pre-painted products: Production and Consumption Trends", organized by the "Metal Supply & Sales" Magazine. The event included over 20 executives and specialists from the MMK Group, a similar delegation from Severstal, and a large delegation from the NLMK Group. Other producers of galvanized and pre-painted products were represented, alongside leading processors, manufacturers of end products, producers of paints and anti-corrosion coatings, steel service centers, and equipment suppliers.

The keen interest in the conference reflects the premium nature of this segment of the metallurgical business. Consumption of coated steels in the domestic market continues to grow, reaching 6.4 million tons by the end of 2024. Over the past five years, market capacity has expanded by approximately 2 million tons, with imports accounting for just 300,000 tons.

During his presentation, Commercial Director of Azia Metall Prof, Zarshed Ibodov, introduced the Samarkand Metallurgical Plant (SMZ) and its range of high-quality coated flat rolled products. SMZ is a leading producer in Uzbekistan, focusing not only on the domestic market but also actively exporting to neighboring countries, including Russia.

In recent years, the plant has undergone a major modernization. Its annual production capacity now stands at 530,000 tons. SMZ produces hot-dip galvanized rolled products and pre-painted steel, which are used in construction, household appliance manufacturing, and ventilation systems. In 2024, production volume reached 133.4 thousand tons. This year, the plant will launch a new line of rolled products with premium coatings for its clients.

The “Metal Supply & Sales” Magazine is also organizing the 5th International Conference “Iron & Steel Market of Central Asia and the Caucasus” (24-25 th of April, Tashkent).
