enterprise reaches1.5Mt/yof steel and0.9Mt/yof
longproductsand structural steels.Theenterprise
cancoverconstruction requirements for12.5M
sqm inmonolithicandbrickandmonolithic types
ofbuildingsor19.5M sqm inprefabricatedhouses.
NLMK-Kalugaplans tomanufacture800ktof steel
products in2014andup to1Mt in2015.
With settingupanarcelectric steel-melting
furnaceatTagmet inAugust2013,TMKentered
thefinal stageof steel-melting facilities tenyear
reconstructionproject.The tenyearproject includes:
commissioningof acontinuous tube-rollingmill
PQFat the tube-rollingplant,modernizationof the
steel-melting facilitieswithbuildingof acontinuous
castingmachine, adegasser, and thearcelectric steel-
melting furnace.TMK’s total investments in the
Tagmetmodernizationproject excees32bn rubles,
more than8bn rublesof thisamount are invested in
thearcelectric steel-melting furnace.Commissioning
thearcelectric steel-melting furnacewill increase
steel output andextend theproducts range.Thearc
electric steel-melting furnacewith thecapacityof
950kt/ywill ensurecompleteutilizationofTagmet
continuous tube-rollingmillPQF, considerably
increaseeffectivenessofproductionand reduce its
cost.
Mechel commissionedauniversal rail-and-
structural steelmill atChelyabinsk IronandSteel
Works in2013. Suchaproductioncomplexhasnever
beenbuilt inRussiabefore.Theproject cost exceeds
$900M.Thecomplexperformingall thenecessary
technological operationsuses the latestworld
developments in rolling, heat-treatment, leveling,
finishingandqualitycontrol.Theuniversal rail-and-
structural steelmillwith thecapacityof1.1Mt/y
isacomplexuniversalproductionofhigh-quality
structural steelsand railsofL12.5—100m.The
complexconsistsof twobigunits: theuniversal rail-
and-structural steelmill andacontinuouscasting
machine№5especiallybuilt to supply themillwith
high-qualitybillets.
UMMCSteel commissioneda longproductsmill
in theTumen region in2013.The total investments in
theproject reachabout23bn rubles.Theproductive
capacityof themill reaches550kt/y.Themill consists
of2mainplants: anelectric steel-meltingplant anda
rollingplant.
Theelectric steel-meltingplant consistsof:

A four strandcontinuouscastingmachine,

The rollingplant canproduce small section rolled
productsof low-carbon, grade, andalloyed steels.
The rollingmillsmainly includes: acontinuous
bullet-heating furnace, an18-stand rollingmill,
anda reducing-sizingblockRSBKoks.Due to its
uniqueness, the rollingplant canperformapre-
rollingbutt-weldingof carbon steel gradesbillets to
ensurecontinuous steel- rollingandminimizewastes
whencutting the rods into sizes.
Theplant canproduce rodsof the following

These fourprojectshavewon in thecontest
TheEventof theYear in theRussianSteel Industry
heldatMetal-Expo’2013, International Industrial
Exhibition.
Anumberofnew facilitieswill becommissioned
inRussia in2014. Severstalhasheaded into the
homestretch inbuildinganew-generationmini
steelmill tomanufacture steelproducts for the
construction segment. Investments in theproject
reachabout$700M,whileproductivecapacity: 1Mt/y
of longproducts.Afirstpilotbatch ready todispatch
(60tof reinforcingbars№25ofА500Сgrade)was
producedat the longproductsplantduringacomplex
test-runof themill inDecember2013.The rangeof
products includes: rodsD8–65mm, equal angles
№2.5 -№10, flange thickness: 3–12mm; hot-rolled
channels№5 -№10; reinforcedbars№8 -№40; round
rolled stock incoils,D5.5–16mm, and reinforced
rolled stock incoils№6 -№16.Theproject includes
mastering thewholeproducts rangeand reaching the
project capacity in1.5years.After themill reaches
itsproject capacitySeverstalwilldouble its share
in the longproductsmarket.The fact that themill
will be theonly longproductsmanufacturer in the
PrivolzhskFederalRegion focusing in thefirstplace
on the regionalmarket considerably strengthens
itsmarketpositions.According toYu. Fedorichev,
GeneralManager,BalakovoLongProductsPlant,we
shouldexpect competitive transferofbusiness.
YuzhnyStanRollingMill (aEvrazplcasset)will
becommissioned in2014.Theproject investments
reach$158M.Apresumedpayoffperiod: 13years.
Thenewmill in theRostov regionwillmanufacture
steelproducts forconstruction including315ktof
reinforcedbars, and135ktof anglesandchannels.
Theplantwill alsoproduce reinforced rods,
